Having spent days and nights scouring the area near Thetford for The Sycophant, without success, I would LOVE to clap eyes on one of these in Britain. Your amazing discovery at least gives me hope that the same might happen to me one day! Well done.Mark G. As I mentioned by tweet earlier today, ...Hi Graeme. As I mentioned by tweet earlier today, I see this beast quite a lot in the Karst near Trieste (ITA, bordering SLO). It is INCREDIBLY voracious and spends most of its time off the ground in deciduous trees, esp. Hop Hornbeam searching for the hairy caterpillars of Lymantria dispar (Gypsy Moth) so the habitat you found it in is rather unusual in my experience. I can tell you something, they move bloody fast too and are really difficult to catch, disappearing beneath limestone rubble and leaf-litter in an instant if you do manage to find one on the deck. A great find.
